About Our Designers: Celebrating Indonesia’s Creative Talent

At the heart of Dio Living is a belief that design should not only serve function and beauty—but also tell a story. That story begins with our designers: three rising stars in the Indonesian design world whose creative visions are shaped by the rich cultural and natural heritage of the archipelago.

Each of Dio Living’s debut collections—Musi Banyuasin, Tabanan, and Minahasa—was designed by a young Indonesian talent with a deep connection to their roots. Together, they represent a new movement in contemporary furniture design: one that honors tradition while looking boldly to the future.

Hendro Hadinata, designer of the Musi Banyuasin Collection, drew inspiration from the cultural fusion of Palembang’s Pulau Kemaro, where Chinese and local traditions intertwine. His designs echo the forms of sampan boats, water buffaloes (symbols of fertility and protection), and native fauna like the tapir. Local craft elements such as jumputan textiles and lotus flowers are reimagined into modern furniture pieces rich with symbolism.

Cynthia Margareth, the mind behind the Tabanan Collection, based her work on Bali’s Tri Hita Karana philosophy—emphasizing harmony between humans, nature, and the divine. Her pieces incorporate architectural elements like sanggah (family shrines), gapura (traditional gates), and the soft hues of Balinese sunsets, resulting in a collection that radiates calm and reverence for the island’s natural beauty.

Eugenio Hendro, designer of the Minahasa Collection, celebrates North Sulawesi’s identity through reinterpretations of Rumah Adat Woloan, kolintang instruments, and the vibrant marine life of Manado. His designs are a tribute to the cultural and ecological richness of Minahasa, reimagined with bold forms and clean lines for the modern home.

These designers don’t just create furniture—they interpret Indonesia’s diverse narratives through form, material, and function. As Dio Living grows, we remain committed to showcasing homegrown talent and telling Indonesia’s story to the rest of the world, one piece at a time.
